1. General Terms

By renting a vehicle from CBR Car Hire, the renter agrees to comply with all terms and conditions outlined in this policy. The renter acknowledges responsibility for the vehicle during the entire rental period.

2. Eligibility

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Renters under 25 may incur a young driver surcharge.
• A valid, full driver’s licence (Australian or International, written in English) is required.
• Licence must have been held for at least 12 months.
• CBR Car Hire reserves the right to verify eligibility.

3. Booking & Payment

• Valid credit or debit card required for all bookings.
• A security bond (pre-authorisation) will be held for the rental duration.
• Full payment required before collection.
• Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee.
• Refunds processed within 3–5 business days (subject to inspection).

4. Vehicle Collection & Return

• Collect and return on the agreed date, time, and location.
• Late returns may incur one full day’s rental charge.
• Return vehicle in same condition (clean, undamaged).
• Cleaning fees apply for excessive dirt, stains, or odours.

5. Fuel Policy

Vehicles are supplied with a full tank and must be returned full. Refuelling charges apply otherwise.

6. Vehicle Use

The vehicle must not be used for:

• Off-road driving, racing, towing, or illegal activity.
• Exceeding permitted passenger/cargo limits.
• Transporting hazardous materials, drugs, or animals (unless approved).
• Driving outside approved areas without consent.

The renter must comply with all Australian road laws.

7. Insurance & Liability

• Vehicles are covered by standard comprehensive insurance.
• Renter is liable for an insurance excess in case of damage/loss.
• Optional excess reduction cover available.
• Insurance void if driven by unauthorised drivers, under the influence, or used unlawfully.

8. Accidents, Damage, or Theft

1. Contact CBR Car Hire immediately.
2. Notify police if injuries or third parties are involved.
3. Do not admit liability or arrange repairs without approval.
4. Complete an incident report within 24 hours.

Failure to follow these steps may void insurance coverage.

9. Traffic Offences & Fines

The renter is responsible for any fines during the rental. Admin fees may apply.

10. Breakdown & Roadside Assistance

Basic roadside assistance included. Driver-caused issues may incur a call-out fee.

11. Cancellation & Refund Policy

• More than 48 hours before pickup: Full refund.
• Within 24–48 hours: 25% refund.
• Less than 24 hours or no-show: No refund.
• Early returns: No partial refunds unless approved.

12. Privacy & Data Protection

CBR Car Hire respects your privacy. Data is used only for business/insurance purposes and not shared without consent unless required by law.

13. Termination of Agreement

• If the renter breaches terms.
• If vehicle is used unsafely or illegally.
• If false/misleading booking info is provided.

14. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
